Gifted and Talented Education (GATE)

 

Students who demonstrate creativity and special ability are referred to testing by the third grade for admission to the District’s Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Program.

 

At the elementary school level, GATE-identified students experience the basic curriculum with differentiated classroom instruction.

 

Throughout the school year, GATE students attend field trips and enrichment activities. All elementary teachers are trained to provide enhanced instruction for the GATE-identified students in their classes.

 

At the intermediate level, GATE students choose from a wide array of honors and high school level courses. In high school, GATE students enroll in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programs, Advanced Placement (AP), and honors courses.

 

The GATE Parent Advisory Committee meets regularly which provides parents of GATE students with information about how gifted students learn and an overview of the differentiated instruction offered to gifted learners.

Estudiantes que demuestran creatividad y habilidad especial se les hace una referencia para pruebas para el tercer grado para admisión al programa de Educación para Dotados y Talentosos (GATE) del distrito.

 

A nivel de la escuela primaria, los estudiantes identificados-GATE experimentan el plan de estudios básico con enseñanza diferenciada en el salón de clase.

 

A lo largo del año escolar, los estudiantes GATE asisten a excursiones y actividades de enriquecimiento. Todos los maestros de primaria están capacitados para proporcionar instrucción mejorada para los estudiantes identificado-GATE en sus clases.

 

Al nivel intermedio, los estudiantes GATE eligen entre una amplia variedad de cursos de honores y de nivel de preparatoria. En la escuela preparatoria, los estudiantes GATE se inscriben en los programas de Bachillerato Internacional (IB), Colocación Avanzada (AP) y cursos de honores.

 

El Comité Asesor de Padres GATE se reúne con regularidad, el cual proporciona a los padres de los estudiantes GATE con información acerca de cómo aprenden los estudiantes dotados y una visión general de la enseñanza diferenciada que se ofrece a los estudiantes dotados.
