Expanded Learning Opportunities
“Expanded Learning” means before school, after school, summer, or intersession learning programs that focus on developing academic, social, emotional, and physical needs and interests of students through hands-on, engaging learning experiences. Expanded Learning programs are intended to be student-centered, results driven, include community partners, and complement, but do not replicate, learning activities in the regular school day and school year. “Expanded Learning opportunities” does not mean an extension of instructional time, but rather, opportunities to engage students in enrichment, play, nutrition, and other developmentally appropriate activities.
After School Programs are available during the regular school year from dismissal until 6:00 pm at all elementary schools, TK-8 academies and Giano Intermediate. Services are provided by an outside provider.
Intersession Learning Programs (Winter/Spring/Summer Learning and Summer Enrichment) are offered on 30 non-school days throughout the school year from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm at multiple school sites throughout the district. Services are provided by RUSD Certificated teachers and an outside provider.
