INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAMS

Special Education and related services are to be provided by appropriately credential or qualified staff and personnel. The Director of Special Education is responsible for monitoring the wavier process.
 
Continuum of Program Options: The district operates programs appropriate to the instructional needs of students, and these programs meet all state and federal guidelines. The following or any combination of the following special education or related services placement are available to identified students as specified in the IEP for each student.

General Education Classroom: Instruction and services may be provided to disabled student within the general education classroom fro any portion of the school day. Program modification, specialized equipment an materials an related services personnel may be provided to teachers and students are educated with non-disabled students to the maximum extent appropriate to their needs. Placement in special classes, separate schooling or other removal of students with disabilities from the regular education environment occur only if the nature or severity of the disability is such that education in
general education classes with the use of supplementary aids and services cannot be achieved students with disability are not to be removed from education in age-appropriate general classroom solely because of needed modification in the general education classroom.

The District supports the concept of inclusion as it related to the principle of least restrictive environment. Inclusion occurs when students with severe disabilities are enrolled in general education classroom at their local school. The students is treated as an equal participating member of the class and the classroom teacher has the primary responsibility for the students educational program. Inclusion allows students the opportunity to move through their educational program as member of an age
appropriate group in their neighborhood school with encouraging social interaction and fostering self-esteem through individual success.
