Agnes P. Gonzalez - Member (Trustee Area 1)

Agnes P. Gonzalez was re-appointed as a board member by the Board of Education on Tuesday, December 20, 2022. Her term ends December 2026.
Agnes Gonzalez understands the power of education. Having received her degree in Business Administration from USC and a minor in accounting. She chose to work in Rowland Unified at Nogales High School from 1990-2020. She supported the fiscal and accounting needs of a comprehensive high school and enjoyed working with the staff and students. Because Agnes loved her time at the school she then chose to become a member of the Rowland Unified School District. Mrs. Gonzalez helps guide the work that supports nearly 12,000 students and the successful outcomes they have achieved. Agnes can be found cheering on the students at athletic events, academic recognitions, pep rallies, graduations and more.
Agnes Puno-Gonzalez was born in Manila, Philippines. She is the oldest child of four siblings. Her parents Anastacio and Alicia Puno instilled into her at a young age that helping others and giving back was not only important but a must. She began her volunteer work in the Catholic church and still to this day not only sings in the choir as a soprano, but is also actively involved in the Filipino ministry at St. Lorenzo, where she believes in teaching the next generation the customs and traditions of the Phillipines is not only valued, but essential.
Agnes’ family began supporting families in need who required food during the holidays by providing over 2,000 families with dinner and gifts at Christmas time for the past 53 years. The money is completely provided by Agnes and her extended family, carrying on a family tradition that her parents established decades ago.
Agnes’ commitment to giving back is seen in her many volunteer organizations she not only is a member of, but has held leadership positions as well. Mrs. Gonzalez is currently the City of Walnut Senior Commissioner and Chairperson, a member of the Asian Pacific American Coalition, the Asian American Pacific Islander School Board Members Association, the Filipino American Elected Public Officials Caucus, and others too numerous to list.
She was selected and honored as one of the most outstanding Filipinos in America in 2017. She followed that by being chosen as Mrs. Filipino USA in 2018. The list of awards Mrs. Gonzalez has garnered are too numerous to mention all, but some of them are: Lifetime Achievement award, a two-time Pioneer Leadership recipient, City of Walnut honoree Filipino American Award, the Gawad Pioneer award, The Best Couple Award, and on October 25, 2025, the Larry Itliong Leadership Award by the Filipino American Voice United (FAVU) for public service.
