From hula hoop to arm wrestling competitions, to a car show, Outsiders Day is a unique event where Oswalt 7th grade students immersed themselves in various activities inspired by the classic novel, "The Outsiders." Students dressed up as either the Greasers or Socs, embracing the spirit of the book. From food and fun including a math proportional reasoning activity comparing the costs of items from the 60s to today, the event was entertaining and educational for Oswalt Academy students.

Shelyn Principal Sarah Opatkiewicz takes ALS Bucket Challenge in Honor of Beloved Shelyn Teacher Louise Stellmacher.
This morning Shelyn Principal Opatkiewicz responded to the challenge by Villacorta Principal John Martinez to take the ALS Bucket Challenge to raise awareness and funds for ALS. The entire school made donations and held the event in memory of their beloved teacher Louise Stellmacher who passed away from ALS five years ago. Mrs. Opatkiewicz challenged the administration team at Ybarra Academy, Alvarado Intermediate and Bob Withers at Rowland High School to also take the challenge.
