Certificated Jury Duty Deferral Compensation Request

 JURY DUTY DEFERRAL

Pursuant to ARE agreement effective July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2024 (revised July 1, 2022) Section 11.5

Bargaining Unit Members who defer jury duty until winter, spring, or summer break shall be paid $115.00 per day for the first day served outside of the 185 day work year and $75.00 per day for days two through ten served outside of the 185 day work year. The 10-day maximum for paid service in section 12.4 applies to jury service under this section.

 

Bargaining Unit Members who are summoned during the breaks or over summer and defer jury duty from a break period (winter, spring, summer) to the regularly scheduled 185 day work year, shall not be eligible for this special jury duty deferral compensation under this provision.

HOW TO APPLY TO RECEIVE JURY DUTY DEFERRAL COMPENSATION

  1.       Upon receiving your first jury notice, complete this Jury Duty Deferral Compensation Request Form and return it to Ocean Wallin in Human Resources with a copy of your jury summons for recording.
  1.         Forward a copy of your deferral notice from the court to Human Resources
  1.        Provide Human Resources with a copy of the court document verifying the days you served.
  1.       Send in a copy of any payment from the court that you received for jury duty. Jury duty pay is usually waived for school district employees.
