Santana Students Create and Send 30 Books of Hope to Uganda Children

June 11, 2008 -- Santana’s Creating Hope Class, led by teacher Victor Lombardi, teamed up with Books of Hope, a service-learning program that matches American schools with schools in Uganda, Africa, in desperate need of resources.

Students in the Creating Hope class researched the culture and history of Uganda, then made presentations to share what they learned with the class. Their first book – an alphabet book - was delivered to the Koch Goma school in mid-April. Students just finished creating and sending 30 books, each with a personalized message to the Ugandan student who would be receiving the book. The completed books were full of hard work, creativity, pride and good will!

*Below is a presentation that shows more pictures of the students creating the books.
