National Merit Scholarship Program

The Rowland Unified School District has 10 students who have been recognized by the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Board for “exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the qualifying test used for program entry.”  These students are among the 50,000 highest scoring participants and were each named a 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program Commended Student.

The RUSD Board of Education would like to congratulate the following students on their academic achievement. *Pictured from meeting.

These students scored in the top one half percent of the Nations’ one percent of students taking the test. Semifinalists qualify to go on and become a National Merit Finalist which will be determined later on this year.

These students have been selected as National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists based on their high PSAT/NMSQT test scores.  Some 16,000 of the high scorers, representing less than 1 percent of the nation's graduating seniors, qualify as Semifinalists in each annual National Merit Program.  These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth about $33 million that will be offered next spring.

Congratulations to the following students for being named 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program Semifinalists:
