Rowland’s Michael Wang sets four league championship swimming records

High school league swimming team championships have been wrapped up.

So when swimmers took to the pool on Thursday, and when they do again on Friday, it’s about the times. Specifically turning CIF-Southern Section consideration times into automatic qualifying times for those who had yet to get that magic mark.

“It’s about getting qualifying times, swimming together as a team and helping each other out the best we can,” Pasadena coach Jennie Jacobsen-Huse said.

Five San Gabriel Valley leagues held finals on Thursday with an eye toward next week’s CIF-SS finals and the inaugural May 22-23 CIF State meet.

“We like this end-of-the-season meet because everyone is swimming fast,” Rowland coach Mike Cody said. “The fringe people can get good times and get qualified.” The CIF-SS finals, all at Riverside City College, start Wednesday with preliminary races. Championship finals start Thursday with Division 1 and 2 finals on May 16. Click HERE for entire story!
