Rorimer Invites Senator Ed Hernandez to School

Rorimer Elementary Student Body President Invites Senator Ed Hernandez to School:

On April 19, Senator Ed Hernandez visited 4th-6th grade students at Rorimer Elementary to give them an inspirational pep talk about "Doing Your Best on the Test." He talked about his own educational experience and growing up in this neighborhood.  He was inspired to continue his education by the support he received from his Mom.  He shared with students his experiences about being on the Senate and trips to Washington to speak to the President and represent the needs of the people.  The Senator also spoke about the expectation he has that all students attend college.

“Our student body President, Nicholas Michery, prompted the visit from the Senator and sought out his representatives to visit our school,” said Principal Liz Leon. “Mrs. Formano, his teacher, took hold of Nicholas' goal and supported him in making it happen.  Nicholas wants to go to Harvard and wanted the rest of the students to meet someone in the community who has experienced success.  Having the Senator make time to visit our school was very telling of his commitment to follow through with a request made of a humble 6th grade student body president. Nicholas is one of the bright scholars at Rorimer and with the backing and support of his dedicated parents he is going to go places!”
