There is an estimated 10.5 million dollars in spare change lying around the U.S.

Rowland Unified School District is doing its part to see that discarded change goes toward a good cause.

West Covina's Giano Intermediate and La Puente's Nogales High School have partnered with more than 25,000 schools nationwide in the "Pennies for Patients" campaign sponsored by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The campaign is geared at collecting donations for patient and community services, research, public health and professional education for blood cancers.
