RUSD Employee News... New Administrative Appointments
At the October 13, 2022 Board of Education Meeting, the Board made two appointments. Congratulations to Annette Martinez who was promoted to Coordinator of Special Education. Martinez has been part of the Rowland family for the past 17 years, serving as a Speech-Language Pathologist, TOSA/Program Facilitator and most recently Program Specialist for the District’s Special Education Department. She has experience at both the elementary and secondary levels and is passionate about promoting inclusivity for our students with various learning styles and abilities, supporting them with their social-emotional learning, and embracing diversity so that students’ abilities can be the focus.
"I am proud to take on this role and level of service as Special Education Coordinator. I am excited to continue our work in Special Education with servicing our students and families with exceptional needs as well as the educators, service providers, and staff of RUSD who give their all to our students on a daily basis. I am eager for the opportunities for collaboration as we look to inclusive practices to support all learning abilities."
Please welcome to Rowland Unified Betty Benitez as Special Education Coordinator. Benitez brings 18 years of service in educational leadership in the roles of School Psychologist, Program Specialist and Coordinator serving students with mild to severe needs at the elementary, middle, high school and adult transitional levels. She joins us from Azusa Unified School District where she oversaw the SELPA provider for Social Emotional Academic Support, Visual Impairment, and Orthopedic Impairment programs, including referrals, intakes, program reviews and collaboration with member Districts. She believes in a strong team approach between general and special education to create instructional programs, interventions and systems to ensure access and progress for all students within the least restrictive environment.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the Rowland community. I’m passionate about the work that I do and look forward to fostering innovative practices to ensure access and inclusion for all students.”
