Rowland Unified Employees, Schools and Community Members Give to Children with
Adopt N’ Shop Program
Christmas Comes Early Dec. 11 for Families in Need
ROWLAND HEIGHTS, CA – DECEMBER 7, 2010 -- Hundreds of elves are at work – that is, employees, school staff and community members – to make the holiday season a little brighter for the most needy children in the Rowland Unified School District. The District’s Family Resource Center, which helps families who live in poverty with needed services so their children can be more successful in school, organizes the Adopt N’ Shop Holiday program. People adopt a child/family and are provided the child’s age, gender, clothing size and toy wish list.
EDITOR NOTE: *On December 11, from 8 a.m. – Noon at Northam Elementary in La Puente, selected children and families from across the District will delight in taking photos with Santa, holiday food, fun and opening presents. The address is17800 E. Renault Street, La Puente, 91744.
“Last year there were 316 children that benefitted from this special program,” said Jennifer Kottke, the Family Resource Center Coordinator. “This year we have so many more families in need due to the poor economy. We truly appreciate all of the support and donations our employees, schools and community members continue to give to help our local families.”
