“We are thrilled to hold an empowering event for the 300 girls to show them there are people that truly care for them and are cheering them on to be the best they can be,” said Gonzales.
The sister entrepreneurs were honored in June as “Retailers of the Year” by the National Latina Business Women Association, Los Angeles Chapter (NLBWA), that commended outstanding Latina businesswomen who have demonstrated financial success and commitment to the advancement of the Latino community.
The Aldabella Scarpa Giveback event will feature guest speakers Josefa Salinas, successful author and Morning News Anchor from Hot 92.3 FM, and Thelma Garcia, President of Taco Nazo Corporation and this year’s NLBWA “Woman of the Year.”  Community booths include the “Street Crew” from Hot 92.3 FM, Taco Nazo, Hair Accessories by OMG, Rowland Adult and Community Education, and the RUSD Family Resource Center.
The “Make a Statement” tennis shoes that each of the girls will receive were designed by the owners’ 13 year old niece to encourage confidence and self-empowerment with positive messages for girls like “Believe,” “Laugh” “Dream” and “I Matter.”
“We grew up with parents who believed that making a difference in our world was very important, so we decided as a company, that with every pair of shoes purchased, we would give a pair of shoes to American children in need,” said Smith.
