Rowland High School Named 2021 CA Distinguished School AGAIN

ROWLAND UNIFIED ANNOUNCES ROWLAND HIGH SCHOOL RECEIVES STATE’S HIGHEST HONOR AS 2021 CALIFORNIA DISTINGUISHED SCHOOL

ROWLAND HEIGHTS, CA – MAY 4, 2021 – Rowland Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Julie Mitchell announced that Rowland High School was named by the California Department of Education as a 2021 California Distinguished School, one of 120 schools across the state recognized for student academic achievement and success. The award recognizes California schools that have outstanding educational programs that prepare students for college and career and that have been identified for not just having excellent teaching, learning and collaboration, but also highly successful, data-driven school efforts ranging from professional development to positive behavior intervention.

"I am so proud of Rowland High School being selected as a California Distinguished School by the California Department of Education. This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff, students, and families as it takes all stakeholders to earn this recognition. In 2019 Rowland HS received the same recognition and earning this award in back-to-back cycles shows the consistency of program, expectations, and rigor within our school and community," said Rowland High School Principal Mitchell Brunyer.

The 2021 California Distinguished Schools Program recognizes schools for their excellent work in one of two categories: closing the achievement gap and achieving exceptional student performance. Elementary schools and middle and high schools are recognized in alternate years; therefore, awardees hold the title for two years.

“Our thanks go to the entire communities surrounding these schools, including the teachers, administrators, and classified employees as well as the students and their families who, through teamwork, all accomplished this impressive achievement together,” said Tony Thurmond, State Superintendent of Public Instruction.

John A. Rowland High School is part of the Rowland Unified School District and is located at 2000 S. Otterbein Ave. in Rowland Heights.  www.rowlandhs.org Principal: Mitchell Brunyer can be reached at (626)965-3448.
