BUSINESSES SUPPORT SCHOOLS AND FUND STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS WITH UNIQUE PRINCIPAL FOR A DAY

CITY OF INDUSTRY, CA  – MARCH 4, 2010 – More than 200 business members from across the San Gabriel Valley will experience first-hand what it is like to be a school principal at the unique “Principal for a Day” event on March 10, 2010. Business leaders are “guest principals” at schools across Bassett, Hacienda La Puente, Rowland Unified Districts, and the La Puente Valley Regional Occupational Program. Thanks to corporate sponsors, 14 students will be awarded career scholarships at the Principal for a Day Luncheon, held at 11:30 a.m. at the Industry Hills Expo Center, Pavilion.
 
The luncheon will feature special guest speaker, John H. Semcken, III, Vice President of Majestic Realty, who is the Senior Development partner responsible for the development of a 600 acre property for a new National Football League Stadium in Los Angeles and an NFL-themed entertainment venue.
 
Considered the region’s most comprehensive annual community outreach program, “Principal for a Day” has continued as a major business and education partnership each year for more than 23 years. The event partners with the Regional Chamber of Commerce of San Gabriel Valley and sponsors include the Industry Manufacturers Council, Erickson-Hall Construction Co., Diamond Plaza, Kaiser Permanente, First General Bank, Puente Hills Hyundai, One West Bank, FSB, Fresh & Easy, The Gas Co., Costco, Fairway Chiropractic, Jostens, Premier Business Equipment, Lifetouch, Chaffey Federal Credit Union, Leal Trejo, Credit Union of Southern California, and Schools First Federal Credit Union.
 
 
EVENT:                        8 a.m. – 11 a.m.          More than 80 guest principals will go to work at elementary, intermediate and high schools – as well as adult schools – throughout the area including Hacienda Heights, Rowland Heights, La Puente, City of Industry and Baldwin Park.

The luncheon event will include entertainment by the Bassett High School Band and Choir with the Masters of Ceremonies Donald Sachs, Executive Director of the Industry Manufacturers Council and Heidi Gallegos, Executive Director, Regional Chamber of Commerce, San Gabriel Valley.
