ASIAN CULTURAL NIGHT FEB. 18 AT BLANDFORD ELEMENTARY

 

Celebration of Food, Cultural Crafts & Dances for School Families

 

ROWLAND HEIGHTS, CA – FEBRUARY 9, 2010 – Teachers and PTA parents from Blandford Elementary are preparing for the school’s annual Asian Cultural Night on Thursday, February 18 from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. The school-wide event will expand this year to include not only Chinese, Japanese and Korean cultural activities and displays, but will also showcase Filipino, and Indian Cultures.

            Families will enjoy a variety of displays, demonstrations, and cultural activities, such as a Lion Dance from the Northern Shaolim King Fu team, a Korean Fan Dance by Blandford students Mina and Jamie Chang, along with a fun, hybrid “Hip Hop Tai Chi” instruction with actor Peter Kwong, who has appeared in such movies as “Big Trouble in Little China” and “The Golden Child.” Other family activities will include Korean Tae Kwon Do, an Indian rangoli craft, Japanese origami and paper doll making, Chinese tiger mask and red envelope lantern crafts, and more.

            A dinner fundraiser, show and raffle will take place from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. Dinner will include Korean BBQ Beef, fried rice, dumpling and sushi for $5.
