Call it an early Christmas present, though Miriam Kim had to be good all year to receive it.
The effervescent principal at Hollingworth Elementary has been named Educator of the Year by the Wonder of Reading organization.
On Dec. 2, the nonprofit group gave the Rowland administrator a grant of $5,000 as her award.
"I'm going to spend it on professional development at our school. We had to cut that out of our budget because of the deficit and the teachers deserve it," Kim said.
