“Latina Sole Sisters” Give Shoes, School Supplies and Inspiration to 300 Teen Girls in Annual Aldabella Scarpa Shoe Giveback Event Aug. 19
LA PUENTE, CA – AUGUST 17, 2011 – Making a difference one pair of shoes at a time, “sole sister” shoe designers Ann Marie Smith and Monica Gonzales will host the Aldabella Scarpa Giveback Event on August 19 at 10 a.m., where 300 pre-selected girls from their hometown schools Villacorta Elementary, Giano Intermediate and Nogales High School, will receive new pairs of shoes, along with free backpacks, school supplies, hair cuts, cupcake treats and items donated by community businesses.
The annual Aldabella Scarpa Giveback event will take place at Giano Intermediate and will feature guest speaker Josefa Salinas, successful author and Morning News Anchor from Hot 92.3 FM. Each pre-selected student will receive a pair of “I Matter” tennis shoes, along with a school backpack donated by California Credit Union and filled with school supplies donated by the community, a free hair cut by Ultra Hair Studio, a cupcake from The Cake Mamas, and a voucher from McDonald’s. Community sponsor booths include Hot 92.3 FM, Taco Nazo, California Credit Union, Hair Accessories by OMG, The Cake Mamas, Mary’s Party Rentals, and Sam’s Club. Other donations came from GDL Balloons, Estrada Nursery and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts.
“We want to thank all of the local businesses, community members and Aldabella Scarpa customers who drove up and dropped off at our store hundreds of school supplies and other gifts for this event,” said Gonzalez. “This event is designed to be a positive and empowering event for these young women, so they know that there are people in the community who believe in them, that they can be successful at school and in life.”
