It looked like a lot of fun as the students and teachers pranced around the multipurpose room at Yorbita Elementary in La Puente.

But there was a method to their dancing and singing. This was the Education Through Music Fine Arts Day Camp being held from July 5 to 8 in the Rowland Unified School District.

Teachers guided the happy campers in song and play based on the philosophy of Education Through Music. That philosophy uses language, movement and social interaction to enhance the learning process and improve self-concept.

Special instructors came from as far away as Sacramento to help out at the special camp run by Rowland teacher Roseanne Forgette. She teaches music at Hurley Elementary School the rest

"I was passing a library, when I heard singing so I went in to see what was going on. That's when I discovered this wonderful program," Forgette recalled.
