Community Invited to Donate School Supplies for Annual
Aldabella Scarpa Shoe Giveback Event for Girls
COVINA, CA – JULY 14, 2011 – The community is invited to donate needed school supplies for the annual “Aldabella Scarpa Shoe Giveback” event, where 300 girls selected from Villacorta Elementary, Giano Intermediate and Nogales High Schools will receive new shoes, backpacks and more. “Sole sister” shoe designers, Ann Marie Smith and Monica Gonzales, of Aldabella Scarpa are enlisting donations from the community and their customers. School supplies are being collected now through August 5 at their store located at 832 N. Grand Ave in Covina, CA 91724. Store hours are Monday – Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., phone is (626) 967-0066.
The Aldabella Scarpa Giveback event will take place on Friday, August 19 at 10:15 a.m. and will feature guest speaker Josefa Salinas, successful author and Morning News Anchor from Hot 92.3 FM; free haircuts for the girls, backpacks donated by California Credit Union, along with community booths. The 300 invited girls will receive the “Make a Statement” tennis shoes that were designed by the owners’ 13 year old niece to encourage confidence and self-empowerment with positive messages for girls like “Believe,” “Laugh” “Dream” and “I Matter.”
“We grew up with parents who believed that making a difference in our world was very important, so we decided as a company, that with every pair of shoes purchased, we would give a pair of shoes to American children in need,” said Smith.
Villacorta Elementary, Giano Intermediate and Nogales High Schools are all part of the Rowland Unified School District, proud to serve the communities of Rowland Heights, La Puente, Walnut, West Covina, and City of Industry.
