Riley Rivera is all about winter extreme sports - especially snowboarding.

After living and breathing it for the past two years, she girl will get a chance to showcase her skills and release some of that adrenaline that pumps through her blood.

This week, the 6-year-old begins competing in the 22nd annual USASA National Championships at Copper Mountain, Colo., a week-long competition for hundreds of the nation's top regional snowboarding competitors ages 4 through 64.

"I wish it could be a month. A month would be heaven," said Riley, a first-grader at Ybarra Academy of the Arts and Technology in Walnut.

Taking first place in the age 7 or younger division of the San Gabriel region, Riley got the invite to the competition two weeks ago.
