This year, Rowland Theatre Department is producing Once on This Island by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty for its 2015 Spring Production. This Caribbean –themed musical has contagious music and a compelling story. Over 150 students have been working since the beginning of the year to bring this amazing production to life.
Tickets are available by going to Room A-14 or emailing [email protected]. Additional tickets may also be purchased. Presale tickets are priced at $8 and begin selling on March 9th. Presale ends on March 20th at lunch. Tickets purchased after March 20th are priced at $10.
SUMMARY
One stormy night in the Antilles archipelago, thunder booms, making a small girl cry in fear. To comfort her, the village storytellers tell her the story of Ti Moune, a peasant girl who falls in love with a grande homme, Daniel Beauxhomme – a story of life, pain, love, grief, faith, and hope. This peasant girl uses the power of love to bring together people of different social classes. It includes elements of the Romeo and Juliet story and elements of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale The Little Mermaid.
