FUTURIST JIM BRAZELL SPEAKS AT ROWLAND UNIFIED OF EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES AND IMPACT ON EDUCATION

ROWLAND HEIGHTS, CA – SEPTEMBER 19, 2008 – Middle and High School teachers, counselors and administrators at Rowland Unified will get the rare chance to meet Futurist, Researcher and Orator Jim Brazell, who will discuss the impact of emerging technologies and the academic and career technical skills needed for future careers. The presentation, “The Future is Now—Are Your Students Prepared?” will take place on Monday, September 22 at 1:30 in the Nogales High School Gymnasium.

Rowland Unified is proud to have been chosen for the opportunity to hear Brazell based upon the District’s visionary and award-winning Career Pathways Program for students (http://careerpathways.rowland.k12.ca.us/). The Tech Prep Regional Coordination Project of Los Angeles County, an education/workforce initiative of the California Department of Education, is funding this special speaking event.

Brazell, whose research, writing and speaking include technology forecasts for the State of Texas, will discuss globalization and technology acceleration and what does innovation look like when communities and schools work together to create solutions. Preparing students for transdisciplinary work through the integration of career and technical education, science, mathematics, and the arts to solve real world problems is critical in the globalized world.

Brazell is a consultant, researcher and orator focusing on 21st century issues including community competitiveness, educational innovation, emerging technology and jobs. He is a George Gilder Fellow in High Technology and Public Policy and a nationally acclaimed speaker who has a gift for communicating technical topics to non-technical audiences.
