Connections to the Future is your chance to talk to students about workplace practices and beliefs, answer questions, share your experiences related to career success and network with students who will soon enter the workplace.
 
**10 a.m. - 11 a.m. -- This year, business and community members have the special opportunity to meet before the event with Futurist Jim Brazell - founder of Venture Ramp. Please RSVP by October 24 to Angie Cardenas at (626)854-8303.
 
Jim Brazell will deliver timely strategies to address global competitiveness, educational innovation and workforce talent. His insights and experiences open up the worlds of emerging technology, jobs, students, schools and communities. His talent is an ability to move you form why you need to change to what you need to do today.
 
Connections to the Future Luncheon is from 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
 
At this unique luncheon event, business and community members interact with senior “seminar students” as they share professional employment skills, and students learn first-hand how to network, appropriate standards for business dress, etiquette and presentation skills. Student leaders facilitate the entire event, with presentations on the award-winning Career Certification Program.

The award-winning Career Certification Program at Rowland Unified School             District offers students at both Nogales and Rowland High Schools the opportunity to earn a certificate in one of six career pathways: Arts & Communications, Business, Family & Consumer Sciences, Health & Medical Services, Public & Human Services, and Technology. “Connections to the Future” showcases the program with student displays and presentations about each pathway.
 
Jim Brazell is a consultant, researcher and orator focusing on 21st century issues including community competitiveness, educational innovation, emerging technology and jobs. Jim’s research, writing and speaking include technology forecasts for the State of Texas along with recommendations to workforce, education, economic development and industry leadership. Jim is a George Gilder Fellow in High Technology and Public Policy and a nationally acclaimed speaker who has a gift for communicating technical topics to non-technical audiences.
