Dual Language Immersion Programs: CHINESE and SPANISH

The Rowland Unified School District is proud to offer intensive Dual Language Immersion Programs in Chinese and Spanish that begin in Kindergarten. Children learn to think, read, write and communicate naturally in two languages: English and Chinese OR English and Spanish.

This is an exciting, enriching and challenging educational opportunity for 21st century learning. Students learn to collaborate, communicate, and think critically and creatively in all academic content areas in both languages.

The Rowland Unified School District Dual Language Immersion programs begin in Kindergarten and are open to students within Rowland Unified and to students that reside outside the District. Kindergarten is for children who will turn five (5) years of age between April 1, 2019 and September 1, 2019 for the 2019-20 school year. 

MANDARIN DUAL LANGUAGE IMMERSION PROGRAM:

The Rowland Unified School District Mandarin Dual Language Immersion Program is offered at Shelyn Elementary.  The two way Mandarin Dual Language Immersion Program offers students a 50/50 English and Mandarin instructional model, where English speakers and Mandarin speakers learn to read, write and speak in Chinese and English. Students K-6 at Shelyn Elementary also receive Mandarin Enrichment activities.

SPANISH DUAL LANGUAGE IMMERSION PROGRAMS are offered at Rorimer Elementary School for Kindergarten-6th grade students and at  Hurley Elementary School for Transitional Kindergarten - 6th grade students.
