2020 Holiday Basket Program

RUSD Logo

Each year, Rowland Unified School District employees celebrate the holidays by supporting the HOLIDAY BASKET PROGRAM for Rowland families in need.  Combined with the joint efforts of members of the Walnut Valley Rotary Club, other dedicated community volunteers, Rowland employees, our Family Resource Center, Interact Clubs from Rowland and Nogales High Schools and the Associated Student Bodies of Nogales, Rowland and Santana High Schools, this donation program nurtures the spirit of the holidays in our community.

The caring and cooperation of employees have enabled needy families to receive nourishing holiday meals every year for more than 45 years.  Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are unable to collect non-perishable items from individuals this year.  Alternatively, we will be providing families in need with grocery store gift cards to make a purchase to complete their holiday meal.

To support this worthwhile program, we encourage each employee to donate at least $2.00, to be used to purchase the gift cards.  This voluntary contribution may be submitted between Monday, November 9, and Friday, December 4, 2020 to your immediate supervisor or by mailing it to:

Please make checks payable to Walnut Valley Rotary Foundation. Each site will collect and submit payment directly to Lili Puailoa, Executive Secretary, Human Resources, at the District Office.

The Family Resource Center will coordinate the selection of families with school sites. If you have families who you know are in need, please fill out an FRC “Community Liaison Referral Form” and email it to Ivone Gil (Ivonne.gil@rowlandschools.org) or Elizabeth Flores (eflores@rowlandschools.org) by Friday, November 20, 2020.

Your personal generosity and support to this major charitable community project enables the Holiday Basket Program to continue to meet the needs of many families in our District.  The true holiday spirit is spread among us all when we share our good fortune with others.
