An enthusiasm for reading came alive as students from TK-6th grade at Rorimer Elementary hosted their Annual Family Literacy Night on September 24, 2015. Students, parents, and teachers took part in this event along with a special guest, award-winning author Mr. René Colato Laínez (pictured with Rorimer Assistant Principal Maria Jimenez). The evening began with break-out sessions that were presented by teachers in the areas of writing to inspire students and parents to write their own stories. Mr. Colato Laínez presented on how he started writing and what motivated him to be a writer of children’s books. He also had books available for purchase and took time to autograph them. In addition, all the students who attended the event received a free book as part of Rorimer’s participation in Reading Is Fundamental.
