43rd Annual Rowland Heights Buckboard Parade and Festival Application Deadline September 17

First Miss Buckboard Days Queen and Court Crowned Winning $1,800 in Scholarships

This year’s 43rd Annual Buckboard Days Parade and Festival will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 in Rowland Heights and will be bigger than ever with the theme, “Good Neighbors, Good Friends.”  The parade begins at 9 a.m. at the corner of Nogales and Colima and will conclude at Rowland Heights County Park for the Festival. There is no parade entry fee for community organizations and individuals. There is a $50 fee for non-sponsor businesses and commercial entries. The deadline for Buckboard Parade and Festival Entries to be included in the parade program is September 17, 2015.  To be in the parade but not the program, the final deadline is October 10, 2015. Parade and Festival applications can be found at www.buckboarddaysparade.org. Applications can be emailed to buckboardparade@hotmail.com.  Festival Booth Applications must be provided to Letty Guerrero at Rowland Heights Park by email at mailto:lguerrero@parks.lacounty.gov.

               Co-organized by the Rowland Heights Chinese Association and the Rowland Heights Community Coordinating Council, the parade will feature a variety of local school bands, community organizations, equestrian groups, floats and new this year, a horse-drawn buckboard transporting the first-ever Buckboard Days Queen and Court.

MISS BUCKBOARD DAYS COURT: This past Saturday, the first Miss Buckboard Days Scholarship Pageant was held with $1,800 in scholarship money provided by sponsor Diamond Plaza. Crowned were Queen Tiffany Chan from Rowland High School (Center who received a $1,000 scholarship), 1st Runner Up Anjelique Agudo from Southlands Christian High School (Left who received a $500 scholarship), and 2nd Runner up Rachel Villareal from Rowland High School (Right who received a $300 scholarship).                Following the Buckboard Days Parade will be a Family Festival at Rowland Heights County Park from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.  For everyone’s enjoyment, there will be entertainment on stage and throughout the park with a variety of community booths offering food, handmade arts and crafts and community information and services until 2 p.m. organized by the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation.

               The Hacienda Heights Kiwanis will be sponsoring a pancake breakfast before the parade, starting at 7 a.m. Come early and enjoy breakfast at the Bell Memorial Church parking lot on Nogales near the corner of Colima (1747 Nogales St, Rowland Heights). Breakfast is $5 per person.
