Rowland High School Aquatics Center Community Update Meeting

On August 27, 2013, a meeting was held at Rowland High School in the Hideout to update the community on the construction timeline of the new Rowland High School Aquatics Center. Rowland High School Principal Mitch Brunyer greeted the more than 80 guests in attendance and introduced Superintendent Ruben Frutos. The architect team from Adolph Ziemba AIA & Associates presented to the audience a slide show featuring architectural renderings of the Aquatics Center Project. Poster boards featuring the pictures of the planned new Aquatics Facility were also on display for the audience. The team highlighted the many facility features including:
• New plaza entrance
• Expanded pool that will feature 12-lanes for competitions that will serve more students and community members.
• A covered viewing area
• A larger pool deck for general use
• New outdoor showers, bathrooms and changing facilities
• A new digital score board and lighting
• Infrastructure built-in for future solar technology
• Pool will feature the latest filtering equipment that will use less chemicals

NEXT STEPS: Anticipated Board of Education review and award of contract at the October 8, 2013 meeting. Construction to begin immediately thereafter. Construction will take between 9-12 months.

Rowland High School Principal Mitch Brunyer shared with the audience that there will be a section added to the Rowland High School website where construction updates will be posted for the community on a monthly basis.
