“HEART AND SOLE” EVENT FOR 138 CHILDREN IN NEED FEBRUARY 13
LA PUENTE, CA -- Kiwanis Club of Hacienda Heights and the surrounding community have a big heart… and will delight 138 elementary children in need with an early Valentine’s Day gift: a new pair of shoes, socks and goodie bags on Wednesday, February 13 from 2 to 6 p.m. The elementary children are from schools across the Rowland Unified School District (in the cities of La Puente, West Covina and Rowland Heights) and were pre-selected based on need. The second annual “Heart and Sole” event will be held at the Rowland Unified School District Family Resource Center, located at 17800 E. Renault Street in La Puente.
“Each child selects his/her pair of shoes,” said David Malkin, Hacienda Heights Kiwanis Club President and organizer of the event. “High school students from Rowland, Nogales and Santana High School collected sock donations for this event as well. The entire community has joined together for these students.”
The Kiwanis Club of Hacienda Heights is a local chapter of the national Shoes That Fit organization (www.shoesthatfit.org). The “Heart and Sole” event is made possible by generous donations and support by various community groups including the Rowland Heights Senior Pathfinders and Southlands Christian Schools.
