Community Leaders Invited to Take Part in Annual "Principal for a Day" Event That Supports High School Scholarships

COMMUNITY LEADERS INVITED TO TAKE PART IN ANNUAL “PRINCIPAL FOR A DAY” EVENT THAT SUPPORTS HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS

CITY OF INDUSTRY, CA  – FEBRUARY 27, 2012 – Business and community leaders from across the San Gabriel Valley are invited to support local student scholarships and experience first-hand what it is like to be a school principal at the unique “Principal for a Day” event on March 22, 2012. Community members are invited to be “guest principals” at schools across Bassett, Hacienda La Puente, Rowland Unified School Districts, and the La Puente Valley Regional Occupational Program. Guests are invited to attend a complimentary luncheon with this year’s special guest speaker, Senator Ed Hernandez, O.D., (24th District). Corporate sponsors fund 14 high school career scholarships presented at the Principal for a Day Luncheon, held March 22, at 11:30 a.m. at the Industry Hills Expo Center, Pavilion. Below is the Principal for a Day Event Schedule:

 

8 a.m. – 11 a.m.                    PRINCIPAL FOR A DAY MORNING SCHOOL TOURS

Guest principals” tour elementary, intermediate and high schools – as well as adult schools – in the communities of Hacienda Heights, Rowland Heights, La Puente, City of Industry, Walnut and West Covina.

11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.           PRINCIPAL FOR A DAY AWARDS LUNCHEON                (Industry Hills Expo Center – Pavilion 16200 Temple Ave., City of Industry)

A complimentary luncheon is provided for guest principals, with entertainment by the Workman High School Jazz Band. The Masters of Ceremony are Donald Sachs, Executive Director of the Industry Manufacturers Council and Heidi L. Gallegos, Board Member for Rowland Unified School District.

Considered the region’s most comprehensive annual community outreach program for more than two decades, “Principal for a Day” is a business and education partnership. The event features a partnership between local education agencies along with the Regional Chamber of Commerce of San Gabriel Valley and the Industry Manufacturers Council.
