Hurley Recognizes Principal Van Windham June 3 and Holds Mariachi Festival

La Puente Elementary Students Present A Special Assembly for Retiring Principal and Celebrate with “Mariachi Festival” June 3

 

LA PUENTE, CA -- JUNE 2, 2011 -- On Friday, June 3 at 9:30 a.m., Hurley Elementary in La Puente will present a special school-wide assembly to recognize the retirement of their beloved Principal of 21 years, Van Windham. Each grade level (K- 6th) will present him with special gifts in song, dance and poetry. Windham started in the Rowland Unified School District in 1977 as a Resource Teacher and was also Principal at Northam Elementary in La Puente from 1979-1989.

A “Mariachi Festival” will also be held later that night from 5 – 7 p.m. in honor of Windham. The public is invited to enjoy musical entertainment by the Hurley Mariachi students and tasty food (Tacos for $1.25) presented by the PTA.
