Nogales Noble Band Takes First at Fiesta Bowl Band Championship

NOGALES HIGH SCHOOL NOBLE REGIMENT TAKES FIRST PLACE AT DISTINGUISHED FIESTA BOWL BAND CHAMPIONSHIP

LA PUENTE, CA – JANUARY 11, 2010  –  The Nogales High School Noble Regiment Band may have been the smallest band invited to perform at the National Fiesta Bowl Band Championship at the University of Phoenix Stadium – but that didn’t stop them from taking first place! The Fiesta Bowl Band Championship is one of the most prestigious high school marching band competitions with the best from across the country performing a 10-minute field held at the University of Phoenix Stadium. There were eight bands that competed in the Field Show and 13 bands that competed in the Parade.  The Nogales Color Guard swept the entire event, taking first place in both field show and parade, with the band taking first place in the parade and 5th place in the field show. This was the Noble Regiment’s third appearance in the Fiesta Bowl Band Championship and the Ft. McDowell/Yavapai Nation Fiesta Bowl Parade, held in Arizona on Thursday, December 30.

“What a weekend and another great year for the instrumental music program at Nogales,” said Band Director Brad Pollock. “After just taking first place in the State Championships, this was the icing on the cake and was a great way for our seniors to go out! I am so proud of all the hard work and dedication our students and parent volunteers have done to make this an amazing year. It is our work ethic and the “all star” staff that we are fortunate to have working with us at Nogales that helps us achieve our goals. We really became a tight and close family this year which helped us perform and compete as one.”

The Nogales High School Noble Regiment was one of only two bands from California that performed in front of a panel of judges that critiqued them on musical performance, visual performance, auxiliary techniques, percussion, drum majors and general overall effect.

The instrumental program at Nogales High School consists of several performing groups, which when combined forms the Noble Regiment. This award winning organization has competed in numerous parades and competitions all over the country. Most recently they represented the state of California in the Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York. They are regarded as one of the premier bands in the state of California. The Regiment makes regular visits to Florida, Hawaii. The Noble Regiment Drum Line and Color Guard are also very involved and competitive in the WGI Circuit.
