Call them digital immigrants. Brave teachers breaching the great digital divide. Intrepid instructors willing to ask that age old question: paper or plastic?
In this case, the paper in textbooks, notebooks and examinations versus the plastic in laptop computers.
 
Instead of collecting apples from attentive students, Nogales High School teachers are handing out Apple computers for the teens to use in the new Laptops for Learning program.
In fact, 200 Mac notebook computers were passed out to ninth-graders on Sept. 20 and 21 at the high school in La Puente. Nogales became the fourth school in Rowland Unified to adopt the new instructional initiative.
