Nogales poet gets college scholarship

Ashlyn Akins is catching the First Wave to college. No, the 17-year-old isn't a surfer, she's a poet headed to the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
The senior at Nogales High School has been selected for the First Wave Spoken Word and Urban Arts Learning Community. The young woman from West Covina will receive a four-year scholarship in return. Click HERE for entire story!
