School Information
·         After-school tutorials in Language Arts, Math, and English Language development provide small group instruction for students who need additional assistance.
·         A computer lab and a certificated teacher provide instruction in the use of technology to increase the competency of students on the California State Standards.
·         Computers and access to the Internet are available in every classroom.
·         A summer school program offers extended year instruction in reading, math, and language development for students who qualify.
·         Students facilitate conflict resolution as members of the Peace Patrol.
·         With an emphasis as a Community of Caring school, students, staff, and parents exemplify the values of family, respect, caring, responsibility and trust through community service projects, reading buddies program, school community projects and classroom activities.
·         The Reading Recovery Program provides individualized reading instruction for selected first graders.
·         An active Student Council offers leadership opportunities for upper grade students through which they organize activities to boost school spirit and pride.
·         Active parent groups including PTA, School Site Council, English Learner Advisory Council and GATE Parent Council.
Special Features and Programs
·         CBET English learning classes and parent education workshops are provided and well attended.
·         La Seda students participate in a show choir and band.
·         After-school sports program provides the opportunity for upper grade students to build teamwork, school spirit, athletic skills, and sportsmanship.
·         A variety of Parent Education programs offer parenting tips and instructional strategies for assisting with student success.
·         A Community Liaison offers weekly Parent Forums at the Breakfast Club.
·         Peace Patrol provides an opportunity for students to facilitate conflict resolution among peers.
·         Students participate in two research-proven computer programs, Accelerated Reader and Accelerated Math which help to motivate youngsters and increase competency in reading and math.
·         A library filled with various types of books and research resources with access given to all students on a weekly basis, at the minimum.
·         Mimi's Cafe graciously supplies awards to students for success in reading and to promote good attendance.
·         The So. Cal Reading is Fundamental organization has supplied our 1st and 2nd grade students with new books to encourage the love of reading and the building up of each child's personal library at home.
