    • Preschool classes are held on the Hurley School campus. Both Head Start and Options Preschool have classes.
    • Healthy Start - the Children's Dental Clinic and the Healthy Start Project provides education to parents and medical care to students.
    • The Community of Caring provides uniforms for needy students.
    • Hurley School Radio Broadcast - Themes of the Community of Caring are presented daily on the student-operated show.
    • Hurley Parent Center offers parent orientation and assistance through a weekly meeting of parents in Room 61. Latino Family Literacy is one of the most popular courses.
    • English Classes for Parents daily both in the morning and evening.
    • The PTA has an active group of parents who support the educational program. Active parent groups also include School Site Council, english Learner Advisory Council, and GATE Parent Council.
After-School Clubs

  • Reading Club - Students who need phonics review or to build reading fluency have meetings twice a week.
  • English as A Second Language - Students who are developing English proficiency take part in activities that promote speaking and understanding English. The songs, games, and plays in this club make learning English more enjoyable.
  • Sports - Boys and girls interested in playing on team sports against teams from other schools try out for these teams. Softball, basketball, and soccer are included.
  • Vocal Music - There are two choruses for all students in grades 4, 5, and 6.
    Hurley Sound Machine - The Handbell Choir and the Xylophone Ensemble give chances for making original music.  The Drumming Group is also very popular.
  •  STARS Club - Recreation groups sponsored by the City of La Puente meet at Hurley after classes daily and in the summer.
  • Option Enrichment - Study hall and recreation are combined in this program daily after school until 6 p.m.
  • Ballet Folklorico - Beginners and advanced classes are held in the cafeteria on Tuesday nights. Ballet Folklorico is sponsored by the City of La Puente.
  • Band - Students in grades 5 and 6 take instrumental music classes and take part in the Thursday Night Band.
  • Outdoor Science School - All students in sixth grade take part in a week-long trip to study environmental science in the Angeles National Forest.
  • Summer Tutoring - Special classes are provided to help students who need help to catch up to grade level.
