With its sweeping roof lines, from a distance the new Rowland Heights Community Center looks like two covered wagons. Just like the ones that pioneer John Rowland used on the Santa Fe Trail to found the community named after him.

Workers are putting the finishing touches on the new $18 million center designed by Gonzalez Goodale Architects of Pasadena. The stunning complex sits on the lower portion of Pathfinder Park in the Puente Hills.

“It’s going to be spectacular, we’re looking forward to the grand opening on April 18,” said Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe. “It is really a vision of the community, the community input that we got resulted in multiple kinds of rooms.”
