“I want to take this opportunity to thank the entire school board, Superintendent Mitchell and cabinet for giving me the opportunity to serve at Nogales High School. It’s been a tremendous ride the last few weeks – I literally resigned on Friday, the 21st and started here that following Monday the 24th. It has been great getting to know the students, staff and community. It’s an honor to be here and I am looking forward to serve and moving forward with the Common Core and all the great instructional things we are doing. Finally, I will be looking forward to a great, beautiful facility we will be unveiling in the next year or so. I look forward to getting to know everyone and being a member of the Rowland Unified team and Nogales High School.”

I am on my second day and it’s been such a joy – I got to enjoy the winter concert today and the children were absolutely perfect! The campus is gorgeous, the staff amazing and the families have been wonderful. I really look forward to serving the community, the Rowland Unified School District and I am absolutely honored to be here.”
· The Board of Education announced at the December 9th meeting the appointment of Mr. Scott Jensen as our new Director of Special Education (Not pictured -- He will join RUSD on January 5, 2015). Mr. Jensen comes to us from Anaheim City School District where he was in responsible for all district special education programming. He has a great deal of experience in the field, having served as an SDC Teacher, Home/Hospital Teacher, Intervention Specialist and Program Specialist. He has coordinated various professional development activities, provided support for Autism programs and has served successfully in many areas in education. He also served as a Coordinator for the Young Athletes Program Collaborative, a partnership with the Special Olympics of Southern California and the University of California, Irvine. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy from California Baptist University, and a Master’s Degree from Chapman University.
