Rowland Adult and Community Education (RACE) will be holding their annual Open House on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in recognition of Adult Education Week which is April 3 - 7. The community is invited to visit classes in session, speak to current instructors and view classroom displays made by students about various courses. This year Rowland Adult celebrates 46 years of serving the community with a wide range of educational services including English as a Second Language, Citizenship, Distance Learning, High School Diploma, GED and Parent Education.  RACE is located at 2100 Lerona Ave., just south of Killian Elementary in Rowland Heights.

Want to sharpen your job skills, explore a new hobby or take an online class? Fee-based classes offered include California State Notary Public, Loan Signing, Sketch and Watercolor, Beading Basics, Ikebana – Japanese Flower Arrangement, Golf Clinic, Conquering Computer Phobia, Beginning Excel, and Introduction to Power Point. Classes for fitness and health include Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, and Reiki. Other general interest classes are Anti-Aging Skin Care, Classic & Glamour Make-Up, First Aid & CPR, Tai Chi, Qi Gong for Healing, Beginning Piano for Adults & Seniors, Digital Photography, Bus/Transit Driver In-service Training, and Basic Cupcake& Cake Decoration.

A multitude of career training online programs through Education To Go are available such as Certified Personal Trainer, Travel Agent, Principle of Green Building, Event Management and Design, Fitness Business Management, Grant Writing, AutoCAD 3D 2015, Certified Wedding Planner, Human Resource Professional, Non-Profit Management, and Optician Certification.  Instructor led online courses include Google Analytics, Payroll in QuickBooks, Accounting Fundamentals, Writer’s Workshop, Workplace Computer Skills,  Grammar Refresher, Web Page Creation, Excel, Leadership and  Business Writing are offered just to name a few. 

Each year Rowland Adult & Community Education serves more than 5,000 adult students with 19 class locations in the communities of Rowland Heights, La Puente, West Covina, Walnut and Diamond Bar.
