ANNUAL “PRINCIPAL FOR A DAY” EVENT MARCH 25
Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis Luncheon Keynote Speaker
Gabriel Valley will learn what it is like to be a school principal as they support schools and provide high school scholarships at the annual “Principal for a Day” event set for March 25, 2015. Schools in the Bassett, Hacienda La Puente, Rowland Unified School Districts, and the La Puente Valley Regional Occupational Program will open up their doors and invite community leaders to be “guest” principals that morning. A complimentary invitee luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the Industry Hills Expo Center Pavilion with featured keynote speaker Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis. Prior to becoming Supervisor of the First District, Solis served as Secretary of Labor, becoming the first Latina to serve in the United States Cabinet. Supervisor Solis represented the 32nd Congressional District in California from 2001 to 2009. Solis looks forward to welcoming business leaders and congratulating the 14 student scholarship winners (10 high school, three Adult Education scholarships and one ROP), who will be recognized at the event and presented with $300 scholarships, thanks to corporate sponsors.

8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. PRINCIPAL FOR A DAY MORNING SCHOOL TOURS
“Guest principals” tour elementary, intermediate, and high schools – as well as adult schools – in the communities of Hacienda Heights, Rowland Heights, La Puente, City of Industry, Walnut, and West Covina.
11:30 a.m. – 1::30 p.m. PRINCIPAL FOR A DAY AWARDS LUNCHEON (Industry Hills Expo Center Pavilion at 16200 Temple Ave., City of Industry)
A complimentary luncheon is provided for guest principals, with entertainment by Giano Intermediate’s Mariachi Band, under the direction of Music Director Gerard Gonzales. The Event Masters of Ceremony are Donald Sachs, Executive Director of the Industry Manufacturers Council and Heidi L. Gallegos, Board Member for the Rowland Unified School District.
Considered the region’s most comprehensive annual community outreach program for more than two decades, “Principal for a Day” is a business and education partnership. The event features a partnership between local education agencies along with the Regional Chamber of Commerce of the San Gabriel Valley and the Industry Manufacturers Council/Chamber of Commerce for the City of Industry.
